I got married almost ten years ago, but I saved a pile of money by buying a bridesmaid gown in ivory. It came from a bridal store, and I had it altered by a person who specialized in that kind of formal gown, and nobody in a million years guessed that it wasn't a 'real' wedding dress.

I was at a wedding in November that had this; it was the first time I had seen it. The bride and groom had also set a plastic bookmark cover at each place setting with a Shakespeare quote on one side, and the other side said to redeem it in 25 years at their anniversary party for a free beer. My BIL walked around collecting them all night, of course. *And* the bookmark covers were the perfect size to slide your photostrip into. Genius.
